Why Buy Iowa Grown?

What is special about Iowa Choice Harvest? We are 100% owned by Iowans and every bit of our products is Iowa – not too many companies can say that today.

What makes Iowa Choice Harvest foods different from other frozen food products? No one provides fresher frozen food products than we do. Iowa Choice Harvest is the only place in the country where sweet corn can be frozen the same day that it’s picked. Our Iowa Golden Sweet Corn and Iowa Grown Apples have no added sodium or sugars, just what’s naturally present in the sweet corn and apples. Our apples have no ascorbic rinse added, so they’re just like fresh apples, and you’ll find up to 21 varieties of apple in any one package, including some heirloom varieties. We use only non-GMO seed for our sweet corn.

Why is it so important to have a company like Iowa Choice Harvest? As we build the local food system in Iowa, we need to have food processors that can take all the wonderful fruits and vegetables raised in Iowa and put them in a state to be used year-round. This also opens new markets for farmers to raise and sell their produce.

What is a local food system?A food system is made up of all the aspects of getting food from its source to its final consumers – including how it is grown or raised, processed, transported, and sold. A local food system emphasizes local food production and consumption. Food is raised, processed, and sold close to consumers’ homes.

How can I help build Iowa’s local food system? When you purchase Iowa food products, you are making it possible. When you spend your food dollars on Iowa food companies, you are ensuring those dollars stay in Iowa and build an economy for all Iowans.

About Iowa Choice Harvest

Our Story: In 2006, thirteen farmers began planning a new company that would help expand opportunities for Iowa farmers to market their fruits and vegetables. These farmers had a strong belief in crafting a local food system that would provide a fair value to the farmer while producing a quality product for Iowans. After much planning and hard work, we launched our new company in August of 2013.

Our mission is: To connect our customers with earth-conscious Iowa farmers who grow high-quality fruits and vegetables.
